Thought this was an interesting scene. I took a photo of this boat cruising by and 20 mins later it came back filled with guys sitting on the edge of the boat talking, laughing and drinking. Hence the need for a responsible and sober skipper. Many such boats with people out dinning and drinking passed us. It doesn't get dark here until after 9pm. Unfortunately the canal does show signs of some irresponsible actions such as floating empty cans and wine bottles.

The waters do not seem very inviting for swimming or drinking - wonder just how polluted they are in the canals? I was shocked to hear on the TV the other day that the Manawatu River in Godzone is one of the most polluted rivers in the world !! Glad that we are finally getting to grips with cleaning up the Rotorua waters ... somehow socialising on the water is always more pleasant and laid back, something about changing vistas without effort??
